Dr. Bassem Hmiedan

Consultant Periodontist & Implantologist
Certified Dentist Dr. Bassem Hmiedan received his DDS at Syria's Tishreen University in 1999 and furthered his knowledge by completing his Diploma in Periodontology in 2006. After holding a number of positions as a Clinical Supervisor in the Periodontology Department of various Universities in Syria, as well as operating his own Private Clinic in Latakia. His most recent position was as a Consultant Periodontist and Implantologist in Doha's Art Dental Polyclinic. With such a successful prior career in Dentistry, we feel very lucky that Dr. Hmiedan has decided to take his next career step with us here at West Bay Medicare.
Dr. Hmiedan – like many of his colleagues at West Bay Medicare – is passionate about increasing his wealth and depth of knowledge, regularly attending conferences and training courses to keep up to date with the latest developments in the world of dentistry. Keenly interested in implantology, bone regeneration, and gingival plastic surgery, he has conducted his own research, contributing to his field and gaining his MSc in Periodontology in the process.

After completion of graduation from Damascus university, faculty of medicine in 2000 he went to
Damascus hospital (Ministry of health) for specialization in emergency medicine. After having done
specialization he joined DAR AL SHIFA in 2005 as an emergency medicine specialist and since 2009
assigned duties of emergency department head till 2014.
Dr Maher Al Tabbaa joined QDVC Company from June, 2014 to Oct, 2018, as a company physician (Doha metro Red line south), having over 7000 workers.

Dr. Salahuddin Al-Salihi
ENT consultant
Dr. Salahuddin is Arab & European Boards-certified Otolaryngologist with Canadian Fellowship-certified endoscopic nose, sinus, and skull base surgeon. He has 17 years experience in general ear, throat, nose, and head & neck diseases and surgeries with extensive experience in managing acute and chronic sinusitis with endoscopic computer assisted sinus surgery.

Dr. Anke Irmela Ertan
Gynaecologist
Dr. Ertan graduated from the University of Saarland's Medical School in 1994 and quickly went on to gain experience in her specialist field, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology. Following a few internships, she went on to gain clinical experience in her chosen field of medicine, taking private practice positions as a Supportive Specialist in OB & GYN. Dr. Ertan boosted her career and experience with the opening of her own private practice in Landstuhl, Germany, where she worked from 2001 to 2007. She then moved to Cologne, Germany, where she once again opened her own practice with a colleague, which specialized in Preventative Medicine, Endocrinology, and OB & GYN.

Dr. Maya is a graduate of Saint Joseph University (2004), School of Medicine. She trained at Hotel Dieu de France University Hospital, Beirut, Family Medicine Department, where she provided superior care in Family and Community Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and other Primary Healthcare Services.
Dr. Maya holds certification from the Arab Board of Medical Specializations in Family Medicine.
She completed a fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Angers University Hospital, France, where she had an in-hospital training in Asthma and Allergy: testing, spirometry, prick and patch test. She has the expertise of treating Asthma and Allergic rhinitis through Immunotherapy, with a special focus on Food tolerance protocols, Anaphylaxis Management and Patient’s Emergency Kit Training.

A member of the dedicated West Bay Medicare team since May 2018 as a Clinical Pathologist, Ahmad Samy was awarded his MD in 2006 from the University of Aleppo in his native Syria. In 2012 he went on to gain a Degree and Practising License of Diagnostic Laboratory from the Syrian Ministry of Health, as well as Practising License of Diagnostic and Anatomical and Clinical Pathology from the Qatar Supreme Council of Health. His bilingual skills in his native Arabic and English, have been useful as an avid attendee of symposiums and workshops, to further his knowledge of his field and beyond.

Dermatologist
Since graduating in 2007 with an MD from the National Medical University in Kiev, Inna Gaponko has dedicated herself to specializing in Dermatology. She received her specialist training at the Bucovinian Medical Academy and followed this up with a Diploma in Practical Dermatology and an MSc in Clinical Dermatology from Cardiff Medical University. Her work history has included Dermatologist positions at numerous prestigious clinics, including most recently the Al Wehda Medical Centre, before joining the team of doctors at West Bay Medicare.
Through her ten years of experience as a Dermatologist, she has amassed an extensive knowledge of Aesthetics, such as fillers, laser treatment, injectables, and dermabrasion treatments. As new treatments, techniques and diagnostic procedures are developed, Dr. Gaponko will attend the relevant conferences to ensure she is delivering the correct care to her patients. Dr. Naqiyaa Khandwawala completed her BDS in 2013 from MUHS, India. After completion of her BDS she pursued her Masters in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. She has also completed her Diploma in Laser Dentistry from University of Vienna Austria and is a Lifetime member of SOLA (Society of Laser Applications). She has a reputation of being an excellent student during her course and has been a favourite among her patients as a fabulous clinician. She specialises in practising MICROSCOPE AND LASER ENHANCED ENDODONTICS.
